Q: Shuffle won't restore
I recently plugged in my Shuffle (4 gen - 2GB) to restore to factory so I could sell it and it wouldn't work. It kept giving me error 1439. Eventually it went into recovery mode and still gets stuck at the 1439 error message. I've tried all the following:
- Get the latest version of iTunes.
- Disconnect and reconnect your iPod to iTunes.
- Restart your computer.
- Connect your iPod to a different USB port (a USB 2.0 port if possible).
- Disconnect any third-party USB devices from your computer (you don't need to remove your keyboard or mouse).
- Use a different user account on your computer, or create a new test user account with admin rights and iTunes.
- Turn Disk Use on or off on your iPod.
- Update or reinstall your Windows USB drivers.
- If you use third-party security software, you might need to update, disable, or uninstall your security software temporarily.
- rename the ipods drive letter
- tried connecting to 2 other computers (my husband had no issues restoring his from his computer)
- reformatting the drive manually to FAT32
I'm totally out of ideas! Who can help?
