It sounds like you're having issues accessing your Mail on you iOS device. Although the following Knowledge Base article is written for apps installed on your iPhone, it offer some great steps to use for troubleshooting the Mail app:
If an app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open - Apple Support
Restart the app
Close the app and open it again.
Restart your device
Turn your device off and back on.
Check for iOS and app updates
- Make sure that you're using latest version of iOS.
- Open the App Store and tap Updates.
- If updates are available, tap Update All.
- If asked, enter your Apple ID password.

Follow these steps first:
- To make sure that you're connected to the Internet, open Safari and go to www.apple.com.
- Log in to your email provider's website and make sure that the account is active and that you're using the right password.
- Check your email settings.
- Restart your iOS device.
- Remove the affected email account from your device with these steps:
- Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
- Tap the email account.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Add your account again.
