Disablind read-aloud repeat on touch event

I would like to disable the read-aloud functionality that repeat playback from the word that has been touched.

I've tried adding the preventDefaut() method in the span element that received the media-overlay class and also tried adding the preventDefault() method in the P element composed of several span elements that received media-overlay class.

Does anyone know a way to disable this read-aloud functionality that repeat the words that have been touched?

iPad, iOS 8.1.3
