objects resize with copy and paste

Pages will automatically resize any object with a hight or width over 6.5 inches. This only happens when I'm working on a file with a portrait orientation. It doesn't seem to happen on a file in landscape. I recorded a quick screen cap of the problem: http://youtu.be/IbQqsXXYFvE

Does anyone know how to turn this feature off?

The default left and right margins in a Pages blank template are 1 inch. That leaves you with 6.5 inches of document body. In order to honor the default document margin boundaries, Pages v5 will visually your image to fit. Your original pixels are still there, and you are being shown a convenient illusion.

You can visit the Pages Preferences: Rulers : Ruler Units if you want to temporarily work in image points.

From the Format panel, select the Arrange tab, and for Text Wrap, you may wish to set this to None. Further down, you will encounter the Size section, where you can click on Original Size and your image will obey — flowing off the right and bottom margins if it is sufficiently large. You can use the Width and Height adjustments to tweak the image size to what you want.
