If I try to paste a link or text between two "", it will backspace over one of the ".
It will look like this. whateverhere"
If I try to paste between numbers, same thing. 123456789
If I paste anything between 4 and 5, 4 will get backspaced over. 123whateverhere56789

Troubleshooting done:
Tried changing settings with the external mouse and touch pad. Can't think of anything to try. I've only had the MacBook for a little over a day. It's brand new from the Apple store.
It really is annoying.
I can't paste anything without adding an extra space first or letting it backspace over the letter or number and then adding the number or letter back.
Does this happen in all apps or just one (some)?
Do you run any third-party text replacement software?
How about a clipboard manager?
A little more information.
The break/space between two words.
Example: help me - When I'm ready to paste between words, I put the cursor next to the m in me, right click, paste, and it will paste over me. Then I'm left with, helpwhateverhere.

Yes. It happens in Blogger, Notes, and on this forum.
I haven't installed anything on here but Adobe Flash Player. No other apps or 3rd party downloads.

Okay. I just tried this in Notes.

When I place the cursor between any of the 5's, then right click, it will copy all the 5's and I'm not allowed to paste without cutting all the 5's.

When you right-click, it selects the nearest word, assuming you want to do something with that word. It isn't consistent across all apps. Word processing apps and text editors handle that differently (i.e. like you want to happen). I think things like Safari expect you want to do something with the nearest text, so it selects it. I think I've never noticed that because it doesn't happen in the text editors, and I've never needed to do that in Notes or Safari. In the other Apps, you'll just have to use cmd-v.
I just tested TextWrangler and it has the best of both worlds. It doesn't select the text, but it will still look it up. You can paste in between.
It is pretty much how the developer's programmed it.
I poked around some more. Pages selects the nearest word. Word does not.
