I just upgraded my iBook G4 from Tiger to Leopard. It's working fine, but I'm having a problem with the dock. I really like Stacks, but I want to put a folder in the dock without making it a Stack, so it works like in earlier versions of OS X. Is there a way to do this?

Control-click the Dock icon and choose to display it as a folder.

Obviously, you cannot.
But you can change the configuration so it displays as a folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click and select Folder. Change the View option to List.

This displays the folder icon, but it still appears as a Stack when I click it. Thanks for the help, but this isn't what I was looking for.
So what exactly did you want the folder on the dock to do then?
You can change the "Show Content As" options, so it does not open as a stack fan. You can have it as grid, or as a list.
The list option offers a direct link to open it in finder.
Other than that, what exactly do you wish to happen with the folder when you click it?

I want the folder to display in a new Finder window when I click it.
The closest to that is to set it to List, and then use the Open in finder option in the list menu that pops up.
Or use an alias as explained in Niel's link above.
