Q: Boot Camp update from 3.1 to 5.1.5621

Hi,

I was not able to install Bootcamp (applessd.sys was broken during first Windows start) several times, so I created a NTFS partition (Disk Utility) and via Winclone put there my Windows 7 copy. But it is circa 3 years old one from previous MBAir (I think there was Snow Leopard back then). So, now I have there Bootcamp 3.1 and need to update it to 5.1 because there are no proper drivers (graphics, USB, ...) for my current MBP.

Is there any chance to install newer version of it? Every time I download 5.1.5621 or even 3.2, computer writes me "This version of Boot Camp is not intended for this computer model" and I can only click "OK". No other suggestions are there

Can you help me please?

I am using Mavericks 10.9.5, Windows is 7 ultimate.

1. Did you run SysPrep before you created the image to be restored to the new machine?
2. To download drivers appropriate for your new Mac and W7,
a. Use BC Assistant and a USB2 flash drive, or,
b. Download the drivers manually from Install Windows 7 and earlier on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support
3. Run setup.exe from the Bootcamp folder.

1. no, or I don't know what it is
2.+3. I did it, it seems that I need v5.1.5621 for my Mac but Windows has 3.1 and update by simply runing setup.exe is not working

You can remove AppleSSD directory from $WinPEDriver$ folder on your USB, and it will let you install Windows.

Your MBP is a UEFI Mac, so Windows can be directly installed without using Bootcamp Assistant and using Disk Utility to partition your internal disk and creating a Free Space 'partition'. This requires you to use the EFI Boot on your USB.
