Other Storage in iTunes Contains My iPhone's Photos

I have lots of photos on my iPhone. When I upgraded to iOS 8 many months ago, I noticed that iTunes showed that I had only 1-2GB of photos but my Other storage grew to 16GB. My iPhone shows that I have 17.5 GB of photos which seems correct.


Any ideas why iTunes thinks my photos are "Other"?


(I've had this problem for many months but am only asking for help now.)

First I recommend that you import all your photos to your computer to have a backup and avoid losing any of them. Use the Import option in either PC or Mac.

Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC - Apple Support


Then please read the article that follows - an Other that large reflects system corruption, it is usually about 500 MBs or so. 1-2 GBs is acceptable, not 16.
