Sep 10, 2015 7:37 AM in response to Shooneby Jason L,Hi there Shoone,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
If I understand correctly, the iTunes Now Playing window isn't updating or being displayed correctly on your MacBook Pro. If you haven't already, take a look at the article linked below and try testing iTunes without any third-party add-ons or plug-ins.
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins - Apple Support

Sep 10, 2015 10:35 PM in response to Shooneby Cookie J,I had this same issue on a 5K iMac. -- never installed any plug-ins. I'm on 12.2.2.25 -- no current song...no ability to scrub the current song or see any playback stats or even song name. Just the big 'ol Apple in the grey box. I tried launching in "safe mode" and still no help. Then I just started punching Function keys F1, F2 , F3, (most of them have defined functions for brightness etc. By the time I got to F6 -- the display showed up!
Now it seems perfectly fine. I don't see where I can toggle it off/on -- relaunching iTunes and it's still fine. Go figure. No clue what "really fixed it" but might I suggest you start pressing function keys - lol -- can't hurt.
