Why do I need a credit card for my Apple ID
I Don't think I should need a credit card for this, because if I want to make purchases I would get an iTunes gift card.
Who says you do?
If you've already created one, then you will be asked to validate by adding a credit card. Once validated you can remove the credit card by selecting none as the payment option.
