Q: MacBook and iMac both disconnect from the wifi after a period of no usage.
I have a problem with my MacBook (12 inch) and iMac (27 inch, newest model but not the 5k version) both disconnecting from the wifi if I do not use it for a long period of time. While the wifi signal icon in the top bar still shows I am connected, whenever I try to load a page on the internet (browser of preference is Chrome), it says I am not connected to the internet. The only way I have found to reconnect it is to turn my wifi off and on again, and wait for it to reconnect back to my wifi, then I am good to go until I stop using my computer for a while. Does anyone know of a solution to this problem? I am pretty sure it is not my internet, because this never happens with the iPhone or iPad. Both Macs are using the latest version of OS X Yosemite, version 10.10.5.
Things I have not yet tried are using another browser and seeing if I have the same problem, and using an application outside of the browser to test connectivity. I have discovered no temporary fixes other than what I mentioned above.
Thanks!
MacBook, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)
