Sep 9, 2015 4:11 PM in response to Kappyby W_Ka,I didn't. I was sent an email from do_not_reply@apple.com saying:
"We were unable to reset the password for your Apple ID (my email) because there were too many unsuccessful attempts to answer your security questions. To protect the security of your account, you will not be able to reset your password for the next eight hours.
If you didn’t attempt to reset your password, it's possible an unauthorized person is attempting to access your account. You should review and update your security settings at My Apple ID.
Apple Support"
I didn't follow the links but I went directly to the Apple website to reset my password just in case but the support forums directed me to: https://appleid.apple.com/
I have reset my password and security twice through and its sending me confirmations that its been changed from
appleid_gben@email.apple.com
So I have no idea what to do now? I am freaking out because my iPad and iPhone were both stolen two weeks ago and I'm scared the person who stole them is trying to access my account.
Is there any other way to change your Apple ID password not through https://appleid.apple.com/ as its this website which is sending the emails from
appleid_gben@email.apple.com
HELP PLEASE

Sep 9, 2015 4:30 PM in response to W_Kaby Kappy,If someone stole your device and you had enabled Find My Phone, then they cannot access your device or account unless the know your Apple ID and password. They may be trying to scam you out of that information.

Sep 9, 2015 5:07 PM in response to W_Kaby thomas_r.,It certainly sounds like someone may be trying to reset the password on your account, in an attempt to gain access.
If you have not done so yet, you would be well-advised to enable two-factor authentication on your Apple ID. See the following page:
Frequently asked questions about two-step verification for Apple ID - Apple Support
(Unfortunately, the formatting on that page is currently screwed up, so it'll be a pain to read, but the information is there.)
In addition, if you enabled Find My iPhone/iPad on those devices, you should be sure to lock them both, if you haven't done so already.

May 11, 2016 5:01 PM in response to W_Kaby bonimac,I believe "appleid_gben@email.apple.com" is legit.
I wasn't sure, because i had been asked to change my Apple ID password while changing from dropbox to iCloud in 1password.
So i checked the supportwebsite from 1password en found this in step 3
Sign in using your Apple ID if this page on Apple.com opens in your browser. (This won't happen if you are using the version of 1Password from the Mac App Store.)
See:
https://support.1password.com/guides/mac/sync-icloud.html
That's the way i got mails from "appleid_gben@email.apple.com" after changing my Apple ID, since i am NOT using the 1Password version from the Mac App Store.

Jul 18, 2016 8:26 AM in response to W_Kaby max-ipad,It is phising, they make you use a link to the apple website to reset your password and copy your information.
appleid_gben@email.apple.com is not a legit email from Apple. Never change your password following a link.... Go to Apple directly.
