Sound Pending
I went to Find My iphone, and clicked on my device. I hit "play sound" to locate it, and a message came back saying "sound pending". Why would it say this? The phone is turned on. Never heard any sound to locate it.

'Pending' means something is waiting to happen.
For the phone to make a noise it needs to receive the signal from iCloud, that means it needs a cellular data or internet connection. If the phone is out of range of those, powered off or otherwise unable to be contacted the feature will remain 'pending' until it can be contacted.
