Problems with icloud that is not wanted

Hi there, we booted up an MacBookPro that gave us a black screen. We eventually rebooted and reset the SMC, this requests apple id and passwords that took an age to find and work out. We now can not access our HD because it wants icloud info that we do not have. We hate, HATE icloud so have never joined it.

Now what?
