Q: iphone won't show on windows explorer
When I plug my iPhone 5s into my Windows 7 computer, iTunes opens and my phone syncs normally, but the iPhone icon doesn't show up in Windows Explorer, so I can't transfer my photos. Another odd symptom is I get the "Trust this computer?" message everytime I plug into the computer, yes, the same computer. My iPad Air works perfectly. All software is up to date on the iPhone and computer.
Troubleshooting efforts:
- Tried different USB ports, not using a hub or docking station.
- Different Apple cables
- The Apple Mobile Device USB driver shows up in Control Panel>Devices and Printers and is enabled.
- I've disabled and re-enabled the driver.
- Running the troubleshooter on the driver says it is working normally.
- I've deleted the driver; it reloads when I plug my phone in as normal, but still a no-show in WE.
- I've rebooted the phone and computer. Booted the computer with the phone connected.
Another symptom is in Apple Mobile Device USB Driver Properties, the model shows as an iPhone, but the manufacturer, model number, and description are all "unknown".
The only other thing I can think to do is to reset and restore my phone; I'm reluctant to do that (what if my phone then won't show up in iTunes?) so I'm hoping someone will have some ideas I can try.
Thanks!
iPad Air, iOS 8.4.1
