Q: Stuck on white screen during start-up, then when progress bar reaches 30% it reboots itself. What is going on?
So the past couple days my 27' imac has been acting up. During the first day of the problem I tried the following:
1.Booting to safe mode.To no avail.
2. Run disk utility in recovery mode by pressing Command + R. No avail.
3.Ran fsck in terminal. Went through all procedures during this step but once i exited and reboot, same issue.
4.Reset NVRAM. No Avail. Rebooted but still same issue.
5.Reset SMC. Rebooted but still same issue.
6. Ran Apple Hardware Test but results did not find any problems.
Some things I came across while doing some of these steps.During startup and bar at 30% before it reboots itself a line at 1/4 down the top of the screen appeared. This shows up every single time now during the same reboot loop. Another one I came across was when the imac actually booted up to the desktop and after a few seconds it went to a pale looking screen with vertical lines. This happened once during the whole troubleshooting. I'm all out of other ways to troubleshoot this mac and my only solution now is to just bring it in and get it serviced. I'm thinking this could be a graphics card issue but I'm not to sure. My OS is Yosemite and iMac (27-inch Mid 2011). Can ya'll give me some pointers as to what I should do next?
iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), null
