    Thanks for the help, you got me headed in the right direction and I was able to clear much of the unwanted/unneeded data. However, after trashing the data and clearing the trash, it appears that time machine backed up the deleted data to the local drive, creating a 130 GB of "backup". Not what I wanted to happen.

    I reinstalled the old drive so I could continue use of the machine and will install the new drive at a later date when I have time to work on it. At this point, I think I will reformat the new drive and start over again without trying to "migrate" from the old drive.
