Q: Magsafe 2 (T connector) for MacBook Pro Retina cable cracked:
I have a Magsafe 2 (T-Connector) for a mid 2012 MacBook Pro Retina, where the cable near the T has cracked such that I can see what I think is the outside ground part of the cable. When I bought the original system, I had also bought an extra power supply (so I would not be carrying it back and forth). I had one replaced under warranty, both had essentially the same cracking, I had not noticed until I went on a trip, and realized the cable covering was cracked, then figured I would take the other, only to find it was also cracked, but on the way to the airport dropped into Apple store, and they replaced it. But I am wondering if I should replace the 2nd one, so two questions:
- How quickly do they go from cracked to non-functional
(I have covered it with electrical tape to be a bit of strain-relief and prevent the cable sheath from touching anything else) - I have (had?) Applecare of the MacBook, but already obviously had one power supply replaced, does it cover one or both Power supplies?
[I am not sure I have any Applecare left, the web site seems to think it has run out, but I thought I had a 9/12/2015 end date, so a couple of days should be left, but maybe not, so it might be moot]
