Q: Burning Blu Ray discs....

I would like to know which Blu Ray burner members of this forum have found to be good to use with an iMac 27" late 2010 model, plus a MBP 15" Retina, both are running on Yosemite OS. I would be sending files from FCPX  and / or the latest version of Compressor.

I have too the Mac external CD player / recorder but I don't think that handles Blu Ray ( ??? ).

Any recommendations or clues on what make / model to buy or to avoid?

Thanks!

I don't own an OWC Mercury Pro, but it gets mentioned here more often than others, and quite favourably.

It appears to be quite robust.

It appears to be quite accessible in the US, but not in the UK or the rest of Europe.

Samsung have the SE506 CB which is cheaper but obviously not the work-horse that the Mercury Pro is, but it does get very good reviews on Amazon.

I have the Samsung, which whilst it does not  have FireWire 800/400, it does draw it's power from the USB connection.

I use an OWC Mercury Pro and it works just fine.

You will need a third party software player to play the discs on a Mac if this is required.

OWC has a Toast bundled version as well for a few $$ more. Worth the price IMO.

You get the Toast Bluray plugin, and Toast has a little better options for bluary customizing of menus.

FCP X is very limited when it comes to customising.
