If an Apple Store does not offer an original replacement (the online Store may) you could check
with mac-centric vendors of replacement parts such as OWC, they have several models in stock.

Note certain replacement models may be compatible for later Retina display MacBooks, some are
good for either kind (with or without Retina) so read the details on compatibility before you order...
Should you contact a reseller such as OWC-macsales -- directly ask. It helps to know the model
sales order number and/or serial number so they properly match the part to your computer build.

Some kinds of charging issues relate to a combination of battery status, charger, and DC-inboard
that is the port inside the computer; should this latter part be the problem, see an iFixit.com guide
on how to repair/replace it. A diagnostic test, or inspection by an Apple specialist may narrow a
cause of trouble down to certain parts. Old batteries, or those which may have seen less than
ideal circumstances or treatment, may prematurely fail to hold a charge, & quit working early.

There are a few different options for a replacement charger, but you should not use a 45W model
intended for MacBook /Air when the original was 60+W with a MacBook or MacBook/ Pro. The
low power output model may be capable of Charge-Only use, but not able to both Run and Charge.
Also, there is a later version MagSafe2 that is slightly different than original MagSafe adapter. My
first-edition MacBook 13-inch (2006 - 1.83GHz coreduo) uses a replacement (OEM) charger. Note
the details in the Apple Support articles on how to identify the MagSafe adapters...
Good luck & happy computing!
