Q: Formating BOOTCAMP partition on Windows Installation

Many guides said that when i got to the part selecting which partition of the disk i wanted to use for installing windows i should select Bootcamp and format it before using it. When i formated it the bootcamp partition dissapeared. How can i fix that? Im trying to install Windows 8.1

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

First of all thanks to all of you guys for trying to help me.

With your info and some stuff i saw in guides i saw that my problem is that since my macbook pro is a late 2011 i had to install it via DVD. I burned the iso on a DVD-R and proceeded to install windows 8.1 without a problem. Then i got the drivers from the apple website for my specific model (Macbook pro 13'' late 2011) that would work on Windows 8.1 . I copied that in a usb flashdrive and then i installed it on windows. Everything's running smoothly.

That is not the correct method, read the BootCamp directions and follow them exactly.

You should use Bootcamp Assistant for EVERYTHING: choosing size, formatting, installing Windows, Removing Windows, removing the partition.....
Do not do anything without BootcampAssistant.

From Bootcamp Help...

Click Next after Format. Do not select any other partition.

Nope, you MUST use the Windows installer for formatting the drive to NTFS, BootCamp can't do that part.

Hi C, you misread, formatting for me is included in installing....
and installing you do IN BA, with Windows

I formated it from windows installer. So what do i do now? how do i restore that part of the disk to re-do the bootcamp process?

EFI is the mac firmware. not the disk.

You must use the Windows Installer, BootCamp CAN NOT correctly format for Windows.
