Sep 12, 2015 9:21 AM in response to jojopabsby ChrisJ4203,Several things to check on the device. Check to make sure the cord is good, you seem to have done that since you report it working on the iPad.
Check the plug block, but that would be working also if the iPad is charging.
Take a flashlight and check the charging port of the phone for any dirt, debris, lint, and using a small wooden toothpick, try to remove any. You can also use a clean, dry, soft toothbrush to brush out the area.
If none of that helps, then make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store to have the device examined.

My phone is almost new. I checked for dirt. nothing in the slot. Used a new chord bought from apple. That too didn't help.
It just doesn't get charged in both direct supply and thru' laptop. I think will have to wait for Apple support on Monday. I tried the phone no. given in apple support for online help. But the IVR response is please go to applesupport site and try.
Will have to spend couple of days without phone. Worried about the data and the photographs I already have. Keeping my fingers crossed....
