I just had the battery changed, and now my volume is off, and I cannot put it on into applications, how can i have the volume working again? Outgoing volume in the upper tool bar

I just had my battery changed, and now the volume of the computer (upper tool bar) is just not working. I've tried with -applications- but I cannot set it on. How can I have my volume working again?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)
