Cant back up my photos and my phone can't be used now

I am using iphone5 and MacAir 10.10.5. When i am backing up my phone onto the iTunes of MacAir, it asks me to update or restore the phone. However, I have not enough memory for updating to the IOS8. For the other choice, if I restore my phone, all the content in my phone will be gone and most important, I have not sync my content before, All the content in my phone will lose if I restore my phone.

What can I do?

My phone is now in a page asking me to connect to the iTunes. I cannot open my phone normally.

Thanks!!

Hello EurgentSOS,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you are seeing the Connect to iTunes screen on your iPhone and when you connect to your computer you are prompted to either update or restore. The attached article below provides information on how to proceed in this situation.

I understand that you have never synced your iPhone and do not want to restore it because you may lose information. If you were previously backing up to iCloud, after restoring the phone, you can restore from the iCloud backup to recover your information.

Have a great day
