Q: Can a genuine Lightning USB cable not have writing on it?
I was reading the article "Identifying counterfeit or uncertified Lightning connector accessories" as I am looking to buy a Lighting USB sync cable to keep as a spare and I found an interesting point about spotting the correct writing on the cable. It says that it should have "Designed by Apple in California" followed either by "Assembled in China", "Assembled in Vietnam" or "Industria Brasileira" and followed by either a 12 or 17 serial number.
However neither of my current two cables have any writing on them. One of them came with my iPhone 6 Plus that I bought from an Apple Store and the other I bought from an Apple Premium Reseller iStore so I'd like to think that they're definitely genuine.
My question therefore is whether the article is slightly inaccurate and no writing could also be seen as genuine or whether genuine cables only assembled after a certain date will have that writing?
Many thanks

I have 5 cables that I am sure are Apple, as they were purchased in an Apple store, and came in an Apple box. None of them have any writing on them.
CORRECTION: ALL of them have writing on them, but I can only see it with a bright light and magnifying glass. It is very faint.
