Difference between Thunderbolt cables

Just learned the hard way that there is a difference between a Thunderbolt cable and a Mini-Display cable. My fault. Now I need to buy a real Thunderbolt cable. There is a big difference in price between the black and the white Apple 2 meter Thunderbolt cables.

Are they the same cable? Any idea as to reason for the price difference? If they are both the same flavor of Thunderbolt, obviously I'll go for the black one.

currently for sale online at the Apple store, I see 2-meter thunderbolt cables available in Black or White for US$39.

The 2013 Mac Pro is Thunderbolt 2 which is backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 1.

I would only get a Thunderbolt 2 cable
