I am suggesting you use the Superdrive article attached above as a guide.
For example:
- Is your iMac model from late 2012 or later?
- Do you attach the Superdrive to your USB port before loading the disk (as you should)?
- Have you tried many (all) your USB ports? (You are plugging the Superdrive directly into the computer, right?)
