Q: Cannot get any version of iTunes to install on Windows 10

I just did a fresh install of Windows 10 on my laptop (64bit, bought in 2014, so it's a recent build). I previously ran Windows 8.1 with the latest iTunes versions (12.2.2.25 x64) with no issues. I did a direct upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, then did a complete formatting through Windows 10, which cleans everything off but the OS. All my other programs reinstalled without a problem. I also installed every single Windows 10 updates. My computer is currently as up-to-date as it could possibly be.

When I attempted to install the latest version of iTunes, 12.2.2.25 x64, the setup aborted when I received this error message "An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT.type="win32",version"8.0.50727.6195.publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b 9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="amd64". Please refer to Help and Support for more information HRESULT:0x80073715."

It always happens when it reached "Status: Publishing

My only option is "Okay", so I click it. The setup continues.

Then when it reaches "Status: Starting services" I get a second error message: "Service 'Apple Mobile Device Service' (Apple Mobile Device Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

I have three options; Abort, Retry and Ignore.

Retry: I get the same error message.

Ignore: I get the same error message.

Abort: The setup rolls back and ends.

I also made extra sure that my user account was set to administrator. Still nothing.

I then tried the lengthy suggestions suggested here:Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates

and here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201668

I deleted every program installed by Apple, in proper order and all the left-over folders. I restarted my computer and I tried re-installing it as an admin.

Still getting the same error message.

Then I attempted to install older versions of iTunes.

12.2.2 32bit (got the same error)

12.2.2 64bit for older video cards (got the same error)

12.1.2 64bit (got the same error)

12.1.2 64bit for older video cards (got the same error)

12.1.2 32bits (got the same error)

12.0.1 32bits (got the same error)

11.1.5 32bits (got the same error)

Finally I was able to install version 10.7 successfully. According to iTunes' website, this build was released in September of 2012!!! (see here:Apple - Support - Downloads). It may have installed correctly but it refused to open, now giving me two new errors:

"The procedure entry point CMTimeRangeMakeFromDictionary could not be located in the dynamic link library C:Program Files(x86)\iTunes\iTunes.dll"

and "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 127)."

As a last attempt, I cleaned everything Apple related off once again and reinstalled version 10.7. After it was installed, I opened up Apple Software Update, hoping to work-around getting the latest version update. However I was once again struck by error messages in the middle of the installation:

"Errors occurred while installing the updates. If the problem persists, choose Tools > Download Only and try installing manually."

I cannot get any version of iTunes installed on Windows 10, with all the most recent updates. What can I do? Is this a known error? Is anyone else having the same issues?
