It shouldn't keep stopping. To address the issue:
Try restarting - or, if that doesn't help, force restarting - your Apple Watch:
- Restart Apple Watch: Press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; Drag the slider to turn off completely; Afterwards, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
- Force restart Apple Watch: press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
You can also try unpairing and re-pairing your Apple Watch and iPhone. The Apple Watch app on your iPhone takes backups of your watch automatically, including a fresh backup when unpairing via the app. When setting it up again after unpairing, choose to restore your Apple Watch from backup when offered the option (by the iPhone Apple Watch app). Most data and settings will be restored, with only a few exclusions: calibration data (from Workout and Activity apps), synced playlists, cards used for Apple Pay on your watch, watch passcode.

Also ensure that your watch is fitted snugly to the top of your wrist - Apple suggests that you consider tightening your watch band before a workout, then loosening it again afterwards.

Sep 14, 2015 6:51 AM in response to Jonathan UKby Weds1,Thanks for the reply Jonathan, it doesn't happen all the time. This morning I think it was because of the rain getting on the screen(the last time it happened was in the rain as well). I was just wondering if I could get the app to start again from the point it stopped at but I don't think I can. I am wondering what is going to happen when I run int he winter, the screen will probably freeze!

If a workout has been paused, you can resume it - but you can't resume a workout that has ended.
Restarting your watch won't cause it any harm and is definitely worth trying as a first step, as it may stop the problem from recurring.
Unpairing also won't harm your watch, but you would lose any calibration data that has been accumulated to date. If you are not already familiar with the calibration process and its benefits, you can learn more here:
