billing address and account ID

HI

I use another family members card as my payment method associated with my account but it changes my AC to the billing address name.

I have changed it to mine in card details but will that screw up the payment card?

seems a bit odd I can't have a different payment method without it changing my Apple ID info.

cheers

Hi

I understand this but why does the name of the card billing address mess with my Icloud name.

For instance under Icloud preferences I have a symbol with the initials of the card holder.

I don't want the card holders info changing anything.

Cheers

Hi again

Ok I have taken a slight capture of the iCloud id changes, Im talking about the grey circle to the left of the image below that displays the initials of said user.

This is from within the system preferences - iCloud.

User uploaded file

What ever name I use for my payment billing address changes the initials in this.

I want to use the correct billing address name but I can't without it changing my own initials.

*Also it does indeed change my name to the payment card name when i go to apple.com (manage apple id, my name says the card owners name), this can be edited but it then gives the card details billing name wrong.

thanks

Where you are seeing the symbol with initials for card holder? In Apple Contacts, you will see your initials but this has nothing to do with your Apple ID. I'm not seeing anything like this for my Apple ID.

Your Apple ID is an email address. You can change your payment options and that does not change your Apple ID.

The icon is simply reflecting your custom settings. If you do not select an icon, Apple enters initials.

Go into your Apple Contacts.app.

Under Card in the Menu bar, select "go to my card".

You'll see an icon by your name. Select Edit and add an icon from the list.

In System Preferences > Users & Groups, do you see the new icon you selected?

Now go back to System Preferences and check the icon in iCloud settings. Do you see the new icon?
