File type for Itunes Match

I have my itunes to import all files as mp3 format. So:-

1) If I use/purchase Itunes match will these "Matches" be in MP3 format?

2) If No will I be able to convert them all to mp3 and dump the apple format?

Hi,

itunes match scans your itunes tunes library to determine what can be matched or needs to be uploaded. It does not alter the tracks in your library unless you delete the original and download the matched version which is m4a.

Match tracks will be m4a on your ios devices. Uploaded will be mp3 as the original.

Thanks for your response. I guess that means Itunes Match is not for me I do not want any m4a files in my library. I would prefer to keep a degraded mp3 than a high quality m4a. I just have no use for those files.

Another reason why I no longer buy music from the apple store but amazon. The songs on the store in my experience are DMR and m4a so when I try to convert to the mp3 I want, no luck. So I have to buy the album or tracks again via amazon.
