Q: Need helping connecting to a 10.8.5 Print Server machine from different network
Hi, I run a few small computer labs at a local college.
One of my labs is set up with a total of 8 Macs: 7 Mavericks iMac workstations, 1 Mavericks MBP instructor machine and 1 Mountain Lion iMac that is used solely as a print server for an HP LaserJet Pro 400. It is set up this way so that we can password protect printing in this semi-public space.
My problem is that the with the way our building is wired, the instructor machine is on a different switch than the other computers in the room, so the print server doesn't appear on the local network for that machine. I haven't had a problem adding the printer to the other 7 workstations (they are on the same network). When I try to add the shared printer by IP, I get an error saying "Unable to verify the printer on your network" and I'm not sure this would work anyhow since the print server is using DHCP.
Is there another way to add the printer?
MacBook Pro, Mac OS 9.2.x
