Q: Apple have increased iCloud prices!

Apple have increased iCloud storage prices in Australia and removed the 500Gb tier. This is very disappointing given the announcement that they were DECREASING prices by 50%. Doubling the storage and charging MORE is not decreasing the price. Particularly when the storage tier I want has been deleted. Ever heard of grandfathering loyal customers????

I missed the announcement you mentioned. Do you have a link to it? I am also in Australia, but did not see it.

    Thanks

It came as an email but the online info is here ... it's very hard to find iCloud pricing on the Apple site now...

First link outlines the new plans storage capacity options ....

So price has gone up a couple of bucks a month (not a huge amount), but my issue is that they have removed 500GB completely rather than pricing it somewhere between 200gb and 1Tb. Only reason can be to force you to take 1Tb and pay more (I can't imagine anyone would have been paying $25 for 1Tb before. I can get a lot more for less on Google Drive or OneDrive (the latter giving me 1Tb and Office365 for $119 pa).

Oh well, I suppose it is no different than Telstra and Optus's latest pricing and in keeping with the inflated prices we pay in the iTunes Store over here. Our GST and decreased currency value does not help but still makes one think that for the small amount of Tax Apple pay over here that we are certainly not gaining any favours from their pricing. But that seems to be Corporate Economics today. And another reason I refuse to use iCloud.

    Cheers
