Problems with Photoshop in Latest MacPro

Hi,

I am using MacPro late 2013, processor 3.5GHz-6Core Intel Xeon E5, dual graphic AMD FirePro D500 3072MB, OSX Yosemite(10.10.5). I have problems with Photoshop CC 2014 & 2015. While using it, Mac keeps turning Freeze / Hang. I couldn't turn off the Mac in a normal way and it forces me to unplug the power cable every time.

Interestingly, it seems the problem only comes with the latest MacPro coz i didn't experience any problem on my previous MacPro Mid-2010 when using same version of the photoshop and same OSX. This is quite annoying coz i need to use the latest MacPro everyday for work. I found many ways to improve the situation but turned out to failure.

Do you have any solution?

Thanks, Ming

mingc,

Let me be the first to assure you that what you are trying to do *should* work. I have the 4 core, D300 and use Photoshop CC 2015 all the time and it works perfectly with GPU acceleration. It's a beautiful thing.

It may be that you are having a hardware problem with one or both of your graphics cards. Can you run other 3D accelerated things? There are some OpenGL demos that you can download from the net that will test whether your GPUs are working. One of the many-starred helpers here will probably tell you how to run a hardware test -- I am not familiar with the best way to do that. You may end up at the Apple store for a repair.

These cylinders are great for Photoshop. No need to get a new machine! :-/
