iPhone Upgrade Program & AT&T Next / AppleCare+ from last year

So, I can't find any solid information on this...

I set an appointment for the 25th to get a 6s+ at the Apple Store.

I've been buying Apple phones every 2 years due to AT&T contracts from the get-go (aside from the 3g, for which they let you upgrade early). I always wanted to upgrade every year, so when I saw the AT&T Next plan last year, I went with that instead of paying for it outright.

Of course, this year, Apple comes out with the Upgrade Program.

So, it's been 12 months and I am now eligible to swap my phone in with AT&T to get a 6s+.

However, I want to get on the Apple iPhone Upgrade Program and never have to deal with buying AC+ separately, or with AT&T more than I absolutely have to, again.

When I go to this appointment:

- Can I just swap my phone out and start the Apple program (and they take the phone)?

- Will I have to, assumedly, zero out the Next plan’s due amount for the installments - then I can start the Apple program?

- What about the remaining year on AC+ - is that just something I’ll have to eat?

Thank you for any information!

If you turn in your AT&T phone to AT&T and do not get a new device, I don't know that they would forgive the balance of your installments. Only AT&T could answer that. As far as Apple Care Plus, if you purchased it when you got the AT&T device and you turn in the phone to AT&T, then you could apply for a refund of the non-used portion.

When you go with the Apple Upgrade Program, Apple Care Plus is a requirement for the program, and Apple takes care of that for you. If you decide to get a new device at the end of the 12 month period, you turn in the old phone and Apple replaces that. You would not need to do anything with the Apple care, as you had only paid a portion for the time you had the phone.

Again, the Next phone would not be turned into Apple, that is something you would need to find out about from AT&T. If you have to pay off the balance of the installments, then the phone would belong to you.
