iOS 9 Siri does NOT beep.

I upgraded to iOS 9 and if I hold the home button, Siri does not beep and I feel vibrations. And the sound appears only if I change in Siri´s volume settings the speaker to iPhone or if I swtich off vibrations, but then I don´t have vibrations. I tried to reinstall the software fourtimes, but nothing happens. I don´t know wat is wrong.

iPhone 5s, iOS 9

Apple wants you to change the way you use Siri. Rather than having the phone vibrate when holding the home button (or giving you the choice of turning this feature on or off), they have instead removed it completely. They now want you to simply begin speaking - trusting that Siri is in fact listening. The article below explains this "new feature" in detail.

This is consistent with Apple's history of product features. They find a "better" way to do something, then give you only one option: Use it the new way, or don't use it at all. That's not my opinion. It is fact. They have been doing this for years.

I completely agree. You don't know when you can talk unless you're looking at the screen and I mostly use Siri for directions so I can't be looking at my screen while driving, plus there are usually a lot of pauses when asking for directions and Siri will drop out, but without the beep, you don't know that.

I'm told you can get it with the 'hey Siri' feature turned on, but I really dislike that entire development path and the whole idea of saying it is creepy to me. Siri is not my 'friend'. Siri is a tool. It's just a matter of time before someone figures out how to hack that open mic and listen to everything.

UGH! Yet another example of Apple thinking that they know what is best for everyone. Unless there is some massive and/or expensive technical reason they cannot provide an "option" for this, then there is absolutely no reason that they should not let their customers decide how they want to use their phone.

I want the beep back.

And, on another note, everyone in my family has an iPhone, so now when you say "Hey, Siri" all four phones wake up and try to respond! What's up with that?

Unless you all have very similar voices, that shouldn't be happening. When you activate "Hey, Siri", you train the phone to your voice.

iOS 9 Siri does NOT beep.
