Q: iOS 9 Siri does NOT beep.

I upgraded to iOS 9 and if I hold the home button, Siri does not beep and I feel vibrations. And the sound appears only if I change in Siri´s volume settings the speaker to iPhone or if I swtich off vibrations, but then I don´t have vibrations. I tried to reinstall the software fourtimes, but nothing happens. I don´t know wat is wrong.

I need the beep as feedback so I do not have to take my eyes off the road when wanting to have seri make a call for me. Bring back the beep or make it a option to have it on or off.  PLEASE

Or, better yet, don't endanger the lives of the people around you by talking on the phone while driving.

But you know; for psychological reasons; a little sound feedback would be very fulfilling.

I had this problem when I upgraded to iOS 9 on an iPhone 5s also. I fixed it as follows:

Settings > General > Accessibility > Vibration ==> set to OFF

    To maintain common vibration behaviors:

Settings > Sounds ==> set "Vibrate on Ring/Silent" to ON

What ever happened to Apple consistency?

    Hey siri? she beeps

    Hold the button:

    iPad: she beeps

iPhone 6/Plus: Only vibration unless you disable those, then she beeps

iPhone6s/Plus: she doesn't beep or vibrate

Plug in the headphones and she beeps on all of them.

Apple, please get this feature consistent across all devices like it should be.

I Had same problem on Iphone 6. sirii would not beep when home button pressed. Answer received on this site is right on the money. Go to settings/siri/accessability then go to Vibrate and turn it off! All is good. Instant fix. IOS 9 upgrade must automatically turn on vibrate.

This is not a viable solution and it does not work on the 6s phones

Headphones don't seem to work at all anymore.

I tried my headphones today, apple plug in headphones and when I hold the center button, SIRI doesn't activate anymore.. I used to use this all the time to MAKE CALLS WHILE DRIVING.. why would they remove it.?

I wish I could say that they did it to discourage your dangerous behavior. But, as it still works for me on the headset I use at work, that's probably not true. Try a different headset.

+1. I use Siri when when I'm running with my phone tucked in my running vest, and the beep let me know she was ready to take directions. Please get the beep back, beep on / off with silent switch or setting toggle.

Requesting that here will do no particular good. Use the feedback link:

Thank you!  Your "work around" solution WORKS!

I now have Siri with the audible alert working.

The lack of audio or tactile feedback when one holds the home button down for an input sentence to Siri is not a "bug" in the classical sense. But it is a "bug" in the conceptual sense. A boatload of people really like and depend on the beep to alert them that Siri is, indeed, listening.

And it's not as if there were situations and/or configurations in which the user thinks they have Siri's attention, but it really isn't listening, even when the audio waveforms are present at the bottom of the screen. In other words, the committee that decided to do away with audio feedback that tells the user Siri is definitely, positively listening for an input command, got it wrong.

What's more, they didn't realize that having the beep  –  or at least a click/click when the button is down for a Siri command  –  would be a better idea than their simple solution to do away with it all together.

Which brings up a different idea. Some of the entries in this thread seem to suggest that the haptic click is present when holding the home button down for a Siri input, but my iPhone 6s+ does not do this. Never has. Is that a bug in itself, or is this phone set up wrong?
