Nov 15, 2015 7:16 PM in response to Pointebasicby FredSimonSantos,Hello.
I too have the same problem (i.e. no rear camera / flash overheating). I've tried all the suggestions here and none of them have worked for me. I have contacted Apple's customer service center and they agreed to replace my phone for me even if my phone is already out of warranty. Although they did say that I'd have to surrender my phone and wait 3-4 weeks for the replacement which I cannot do because I use my phone for work. So I guess I'll just have to wait for a better solution to this.

Nov 15, 2015 11:11 PM in response to FredSimonSantosby JohnHenryMahlzeit,I got the same offer and accepted it. It took about 10 days to replace the iphone and i used my old nokia-phone in the mean time. They kept my old iphone to investigate what ist wrong with it, since they could not reproduce the error with their models. At least it looks like they are working on it. I'm happy with my new iphone because i took the opportunity do upgrade to iphone6 at reasonable cost. Thank you, Apple

Nov 15, 2015 11:32 PM in response to Pointebasicby Eddbee,I have found a solution .. After buying every generation of iPhone since the launch as well as untold amounts of extras as well as the odd iMac . I have learnt that the reason for me buying apple products is for support and service witch in this case as been more than disappointing .. So back to my solution dare I say the dreaded word Samsung .. I will look forward to seeing if my post is deleted by the powers that be just to see if they are reading any of these posts " from there customers "

Nov 16, 2015 2:34 AM in response to Pointebasicby Kelv282,I Actually found a way that works, though risky.
all you have to do is open up your iPhone, and remove the back camera, then place it back in , and you will have it working ince you reassemble your phone , worked for me !!
give it a try ,rather than wait for Apple

Nov 17, 2015 10:20 AM in response to Pointebasicby SawsBaws,Hi guys, I have been stalking this forum for awhile hoping for a fix, tried everything, and finally found what I think is THE solution. I had the same rear camera issue, with the 'cool down' message, after updating to iOS9. Total garbage how Apple has treated this issue.
Anyway, took my phone to an Apple store and was told they won't look at it because the screen had been repaired by an unauthorized retailer. Here is the fix:
Have someone open up your phone and disconnect and reconnect the camera. Turn the phone off, and the camera should work when you turn the phone back on.I went back to my unauthorized retailer, and asked them to disconnect and reconnect the camera as suggested on here. They opened the phone, took out the camera, and put a new one in. It still didn't work, lending support to the idea that this is NOT a hardware issue. After putting the old camera back in, they told me there was nothing I could do.
However, when I turned the phone off and on again it worked. I think something in the update messes up the camera, and it needs to be 'restarted' by unplugging it and reconnecting it. When the phone starts up again the connection is back up again, and all is well. Be advised that if you take your phone to a non-Apple store to do this, your warrantly will be voided by Apple.
Hope this helps!

Nov 17, 2015 5:00 PM in response to Pointebasicby m4ck3nz,PRoblem Solved! I tried many things to make my rear camera work again, but i failed using software activities. I was wondering that the last thing i did not check is the hardware, so it is maybe a big possible its a hardware issue. All i did was to think of how can i be able to pay a cheap price for repairing hardware, since i already told the technician the problem possible option on how to repair it, instead of replacing the camera. I told them to try to re attach the camera's flex to the board. they tried it, and after that they put it back in the camera and there you go. It works! I'm 99% sure it works. Just find an apple technician to instruct them to only re attach the camera. (Pull it off then put it back in) dont replace, unless your camera is damage cause of dropping the unit. Since it was not then do the previous instruction i wrote in this reply. I know this will help a lot of people who tried to seek answer to this matter., i can't use my camera since i updated to ios9. In my country here in Philippines i only paid php300 or 6.36 dollars. you can pay cheap if you are vigilant. : )

Nov 18, 2015 12:23 AM in response to m4ck3nzby swampy333,I also had the camera/flash/torch problem after the upgrade
Tried the power saver thing, resetting etc, etc, etc
Finally with nothing left to lose, I removed the digitizer and screen, disconnected all the connectors/ribbons for a minute or so, reconnected them and voila!!
Everything working as it should, don't know if this is a permenant fix as it's only been 8/9 hrs, but I,m hopeful

Nov 22, 2015 10:47 AM in response to Pointebasicby pongfromhomewood,Very similar experience 5s 32GB - camera/flash stopped so i set appointment at Genius Bar - they replaced my phone with a new one. It worked fine at the store where we set it up as a new phone. Later that day I restored my back up to the phone. It worked fine. Next day - no rear camera or flashlight. I restored the phone and set up as new. Worked fine. I was slowly adding back the apps I still use and a few days later the camera/flashlight stopped. I can get it to work with a hard reset but it seems to stop again after the phone locks. Then I have to hard reset to get it to work again. I also occasionally get the overheat warning when I am trying to get it to work. I never knew how much I used the camera. I guess I can go back to the genius bar and try another unit since this one is a week old. I know my problem is software but what is triggering it - I turned GPS on the camera off. Not sure where to go next.

Nov 24, 2015 9:12 AM in response to Pointebasicby SKN0831,Same issue and totally done with Apple! Samsung looking better all the time as Apple needs to get in the game here. They seem to be DEvolving and not Evolving.

Nov 24, 2015 8:14 PM in response to FredSimonSantosby flananananagan11,Does anyone have a specific case number for this specific problem that I can show apple when I bring my phone in? I was on a chat with apple support and they said that they couldn't find any specific issues for this problem. It would help if I could reference a specific issue. Thank you.

Nov 25, 2015 11:38 AM in response to Darshanrj27by selizzle,I had the same problem for over a month with my iPhone 6 Plus. I took the advice of some others on here: Turn off ur phone, open it up, disconnect the camera cable & reconnect it. Once I did this, I turned my phone back on & the camera worked & has been working flawlessly since. Hope this helps...good luck & Happy Thanksgiving!

Nov 28, 2015 1:35 PM in response to selizzleby j_e_s15,I also decided that I had enough, and I took my phone to my local repair shop. They disconnected and re-connected the camera, and I don't want to jinx it, but it works just fine now! I really encourage anyone having the same problem (rear camera/flash not working) to go to a local repair shop (not an Apple shop, because I'm 99% sure they won't be helpful) and do this procedure. It should only cost $10-20. Good luck!
