Dec 19, 2015 4:52 PM in response to gauravheby Jformiller,I updated to iOS 9.2 a few days ago and have been using my camera and flashlight a lot. But my flashlight and camera have stopped working. When I go into the camera application it is a black screen. The front selfie camera works but when I flip back to the rear camera it won't work. So what happened here and why has my camera and flashlight stopped working just like that? It's weird. Please help me fix this apple!

Dec 22, 2015 6:08 AM in response to Jformillerby Tim1094,Sorry! Welcome aboard. If you flick back through these posts - as I'm sure you have done - you are among thousands who have the same problem (me included of course). I've tried everything suggested here but can't get it resolved. I even went to an independent repairer who said he could change the camera module (which often seems to resolve the problem) but when he did.... no change. He said the motherboard was the issue. Amazing coincidence that my motherboard fails at the same time as the iOS9.0 update. None of the subsequent updates have resolved the problem.
Like a number of people, I am now faced with the decision: trade-in my iP5 (which, camera aside, has been great), get an new iP6/iP6S or wait till the iP7 and not have a camera.
I'm so disappointed with Apple over this.

Dec 24, 2015 5:25 AM in response to Tim1094by jjearley,Main camera failed for no apparent reason. I tried several suggestions listed here and finally tried turning low power button on and off as mentioned a few time here. It worked. I have iPhone 6 with 9.0.2. I turned the low power ON for 30 sec then OFF and then reboot phone. I hope this helps.
Update. The procedure described above worked for about a week and then the rear stopped working. Also, I have iPhone 5 not 6 as originally indicated. After considering the numerous suggesting posted here and of course trading in my phone, I decided to try and replace the camera, as reported here. I did it myself, cost about $10 and 2 hours time - but not for the novice. It has now been a month and everything is working find. Nevertheless, because of the timing with upgrading the OS and initial failure of the camera, I still blame apple for this. Consequently this will be my second and last investment in anything apple. I hope this helps.

Dec 26, 2015 1:29 AM in response to Pointebasicby Joe Thales,After upgrading to 9.2, my rear camera and flash stopping working too after several days. It's definitely a software issue.
Below is what I found:
Backup you phone, then restore the phone from firmware, and set it as a new phone, the camera will not work, and then you choose restore from your backup, the camera and flash will work again temporally after reboot, but after the restore completes, it will stop working again.
It's a shame Apple released such a garbage!

Dec 29, 2015 12:33 AM in response to Pointebasicby CwTeo,Same problem here. After updated my iPhone 5 to IOS 9.1 and about few weeks, rear camera and flashlight no longer work. And I even had try every suggestions from the previous post but none of them worked on my phone. I'm still a student and i can't afford a new iPhone. This without camera thing is driving me crazy. Hope Apple will fix it asap.

Dec 29, 2015 2:22 AM in response to Pointebasicby Millie_chops,HI everyone
FIX as previously mentioned by another poster But I thought I would share my opinion. This is what worked for me...
I inherited my daughters iPhone 5c since she received a 6s from Santa. The Rear camera was not working and it mentions something about overheating. Flashlight also not working.
i Tried all the other suggestions previousl mentioned regarding low power mode etc but nothing worked.
So, I removed the screen completely. Unplugged the battery and left it in situ. Removed the two screws and cover for the rear camera and completely removed the camera. I rebuilt the phone and at first the rear camera did the exactly the same thing then all of a sudden it started working.
For th desperate for their camera to work I would suggest carrying out what I have described above. If your not too confident I'm sure there will be a shop somewhere that would do the above for you for a small fee.
God luck

Jan 6, 2016 10:40 AM in response to PepsiNinaby Foleystephen,I Am afraid you will need to take your phone back to the Apple Store as they do not have a fix for this problem. They changed my phone for a new handset. I am fairly certain that disconnecting the camera and reconnecting will solve the problem but obviously we cannot do that under warranty

Jan 8, 2016 3:10 PM in response to Pointebasicby LaurenK91,I encountered this problem hours after I upgraded to IOS 9. I did several restores and then it's started working again for a month and then stopped again end of November since then no restore will work but it did work strangely for four photos over Christmas then stopped again. My theory all along has been software, the front camera works (it can be glitchy) but the rear view camera is just black, reason I had this theory is my friend dropped her iphone 5 in water and it worked perfectly except for the camera but she could still take black blank photos However on my phone I can't even take them, the camera app just freezes so it's 100% software. I'm sick and tired of it at this stage apple need to get their act together.

Jan 9, 2016 12:55 AM in response to Pizzamakerby LA Sanson,This helped me! Ive always been consistent on using Low Power Mode cause ever since ios 9.0.2 came its been consuming more battery life than ios 9.0.1!

Jan 9, 2016 4:03 AM in response to LA Sansonby c13pep,I encountered similar problem after update to 9.2 and have just posted a solution but don`t know where its disappeared to. My solution was to open up the phone, disconnect the battery, count to 20 and then reconnect, hey presto all now works including the torch which failed at the same time. You can even test it before refitting the screen.
