Feb 18, 2016 9:46 AM in response to Mc Haggisby lkjhasdf,I add myself to the list after an upgrade. Its been like 2 weeks now and I started to work out fine for the first day, then failed a few times but worked again after a restart and now its dead. I assume that the upgrade actually overused / burned something. All other apps which use the camera state fail to initialize. I guess we will not get a solution soon.
My problem is that I though the camera was actually the best feature of the phone in the first place...

Feb 19, 2016 4:59 AM in response to lkjhasdfby rsmurmel,The strange thing -at least on my iphone 5s- is that sometimes (after several reboots) rear camera and/or flashlight started working again for a short time.

Feb 19, 2016 5:04 AM in response to Mc Haggisby rsmurmel,my apple support experience:
- online chat: advice: trash or (if that's possible) recycle
- apple premium seller (there are no apple stores in Austria): repair: price: 320,- euro! (price for a new phone (I have an iphone 5s 16gb): 375,- euro)

Feb 22, 2016 1:03 PM in response to Pointebasicby RottenApples2016,Apple won't fix this problem but they sure are Quick to remove any factual feedback on it:
SO much for their websit slogan "we are here to help"

Feb 22, 2016 5:12 PM in response to RottenApples2016by lkjhasdf,Ok. I get it. Comments to functionality of unreleased beta versions get deleted. I get it and it kind of makes sense as its officially unreleased and not finished. Still I think its valuable to others to share experience.
I had no idea how well curated this topic as gotten. At least someone is aware and paying attention - thats good. Makes you wonder what else got edited out.
Still looking for solutions. G

Mar 4, 2016 12:54 PM in response to lkjhasdfby RottenApples2016,which beta version are you referring to? Being aware that the update caused problems is one thing; actually trying to fix the problem is another. has Apple given a solution to these problems post 9.2 update??

Feb 22, 2016 5:41 PM in response to RottenApples2016by lkjhasdf,I just though I give the current beta version a try and see. Well, for me it was not the solution. So lets hope they keep trying to make it work. G

Feb 23, 2016 9:12 PM in response to JohnHenryMahlzeitby Mc Haggis, replaced camera and no change!
Its not a hardware issue its clearly a software issue that apple cannot seem to acknowledge.

Mar 4, 2016 12:54 PM in response to RottenApples2016by Joe Thales,For me, it's a software issue, it came after iOS 9.2 upgrade and also I can demonstrate the camera can work in the restoring from backup process temporarily and be black after some minutes.
Why Apple choose to ignore? We can accept no upgrade but if a machine can upgrade, its feature should not be cut.
I wrote these line because it's Steve's birthday. Please stop to destroy this brand.

Feb 25, 2016 10:33 PM in response to lkjhasdfby Mc Haggis,SO... update here.
I was able to get the flashlight and camera both working and working with other apps for extended periods of time including over night using Apples b eta software but just updated last night to the latest update and it killed the Flashlight and camera and non of the previous steps i used to force the camera and flashlight to work will work this time. One wonders if the engineers at Apple aren't trying to mess with me!!!
Seriously I've had several days now of camera use and when it quit, it was relatively painless to force it to work, Now its totally dead again!!!!!
COME ON APPLE!!!!!

Mar 1, 2016 8:04 PM in response to Mc Haggisby lkjhasdf,Ok here my end of the story:
- Schedule an Apple support call
- Make sure you schedule it when you have access to a computer with iTunes installed AND your phone fully backed up AND network access without a firewall
- We tried things for 2 1/2 hours with installing / resetting / rebooting - we were a good team at the end ...
- Didnt get the camera running but found a very favorable solution otherwise
Congrats to Apple I have to say. G

Mar 3, 2016 8:05 PM in response to Pointebasicby ivanfrombethesda,I tweeted something to the new @applesupport twitter account about this problem. I suggest that others do the same until Apple recognizes the obvious bug.

Mar 10, 2016 6:58 PM in response to lkjhasdfby Niwerkim,iPhone flashlight stopped after I upgraded iOS 9.1.2. Suggested repair required restoring the phone or something . . . yeah right like I'm going to do that. Instead I went the the app store and loaded a flashlight that seems to work as well or better then the iPhone flashlight app.

Mar 11, 2016 12:27 PM in response to Pointebasicby j_jas,Hi Guys
I've tried every possible solution (For the iphone 5) mentioned by many users and so far it hasn't help through the updates as well. The hard reset, toggling low power, installing 3rd party apps, restoring from itunes never helped.
Finally, after losing my patience on waiting for updates( from ios9 to ios 9.2.1) I decided to go to a service center and get my camera module replaced. The camera has started to work again along with the flashlight. The troubleshooting and camera replacement costs me around 50USD (Available online for around 9USD).
I hope this will help you all. Good luck.
