It took my iPhone 4S 14 hours to complete the iOS 9 update. Now it's stuck on a white screen that says SLIDE TO UPDATE. Well it won't let my slide. It's just stuck. And when I plug it into iTunes I get an error message (1671). Plus it will not let me restore my phone. Has anyone had this problem and been able to fix it?

I tried to go from iOS 7 to 9 which seems to have caused the white screen problem. Did the fix illustrated here - installed iOS 8 now ipad works fine. Thank you for the heads up on this fix.

OK ... I had the same problem as everyone else, my 4S was stuck on the "slide to update" screen. Actually it was stuck at multiple other points too, but in each case a (repeated) reset (i.e. hold power+home down till screen goes black) seems to kickstart the update over the various roadblocks.

So re the slide to update freeze, keep in mind the phone was connected to the computer the whole time. Also I deactivated the computer firewall, just in case the verification process was using my PC connection.

This time when I did a hard reset, I was now prompted to key in password, and this sent me to the Apple logo update screen that I had been stuck at the last few times, again at about 25% completion, only this time the polarity of the screen was reversed (i.e. black logo on white screen). Still stuck at 25% no movement, till I noticed that on the PC iTunes, I had gotten an error message saying PC could not detect iPhone.

    I clicked Try Again,

Suddenly, the phone update bar jumped from 25% to about 66%, and then rapidly completed, rebooted, and viola fully updated.

Maybe I got lucky. Best of luck to you all!

    Hi

I had the exact same issue yesterday.

What solved it for me was the following steps.

    1) Download ios 8.4.1

    2) Boot the phone to itunes.

    3) When selecting update/restore hold in shift you will then be promted to select what IOS file you want to use.

    4) After the phone was restored from ICloud with ios 8.4.1 it was then no problem to upgrade to IOS9.

It took me a few hours thou.

However it worked just fine to install IOS9 as a fresh install but it wouldnt work with the Icloud backup, then I had do use ios 8.4.1 first and then update to IOS9.
