Wow Schjell. Glad you are alright. There is no was I'm jumping through hoops for them. I spent 19 years married to a software/QA engineer and Apple probably did run a lot of tests and everything worked fine (my installation is complete according to iTunes) but some ******* programmer must Have made a last minute tweak to the software that led to the screen that goes nowhere. Hence we go nowhere. We must demand a fix from apple that only fixes that stupid screen. There has got to be a "backdoor" on the phone that force exits a screen. The regular methods do not apply.

I would suggest you go to an "Apple" store for assistance. After trying everything on my end to upgrade my IPad (updating my laptops ITunes, upgrading my laptops software, updating my Ipads software and then restoring my Ipad through ITunes, I was still unable to update my IPad to the 9.0 version and what I was left with as a result of all my efforts, was a blank white screen with an option to "slide to grade" that was ineffective (I could not swipe no matter which way I tried). I then tried the "holding the home button w/ the sleep/power button " at the same time method but all that did was temporarily clear the blank white screen to start me over and leave me stuck at the same place I was before ( blank white with slide to upgrade screen that is frozen). With no other option, I took my IPad to an Apple Store with hopes for resolve, lol. It was my first time. Their customer service was great. They took my name and number and then told me they would send a text message to my phone letting me know when a specialist would be ready to see me. They told me the wait time would be approximately an hour and a half. The store was conveniently located inside a mall which gave me some time to do some window shopping and grab a bite to eat. They sent me a text one hour and 42 minutes later (mind you, I arrived at the Apple Store as soon as they opened to be one of the first so if you went at a busier time the wait time might be longer for you). Anywayz, as soon as I receive the text I head back to the store. They have me wait at what they call a "Genuis bar". After several minutes later I am approached by a kind specialist who is eager to help and immediately connects my iPad to their diagnostics computer. He performs an immediate restore to my IPad which takes about 10-15 minutes. He then runs the 9.0 software with no problem and just

like that, Voila!  My IPad is like new. I was relieved and excited and couldn't wait to play with what seemed like a new toy.    . Moral of the story, if you are staring at a blank white screen on your iPad/iPhone with slide to upgrade feature that doesn't seem to work no matter what you do. You should bring your device in to an Apple store where you will see a specialist and they will have your device up and running for you, as good as new, at no charge. Well, this was my experience. Hope this helps someone. Best of luck!

It would be good if Apple were to say officially somewhere that it will not cost you anything to get your iOS9 mess fixed up at an Apple Store. I wonder if that is the case just in the place you went to, or if it is true in places like Delhi, India, as well. And does Apple Store mean re-sellers or something more specific?

    I just fixed mine

    1. Plug into computer with upgraded itunes.

    2. Whilst on the 'slide to upgrade screen' hold power and home button until the itunes symbol appears with the lightning cable below on the iphone screen.

    3. Click restore on itunes

    4. Then select update and restore.

    5. After this, go through as normal and then select SET UP AS NEW IPHONE

    6. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RESTORE FROM ICLOUD BACK UP IF YOU HAVE ALREADY TRIED THIS it will not work!!

    7. If you set up as new iphone you can log in on old apple account etc. The phone is as new, only my contacts saved (thank god) but it works

    8. I left it at that because I would have lost all recent photos anyway due to not having backed up for along time.

    9. However, you could now attempt to restore from icloud through settings in the usual way as your iphone should now be workin
