Sep 16, 2015 4:53 PM in response to stevejobsfan0123by rich_i_p,I have this issue, have done a restore from iTunes, get past the first "slide to upgrade", enter the passcode, get to choose a WiFi network, then get an apple logo and it goes back to "slide to upgrade" and no response to touch. :/

Sep 16, 2015 5:12 PM in response to stevejobsfan0123by jgouv,Same issue here.
Restoring appears to work for a bit, but goes back into that "slide to upgrade" screen that doesn't work. Only way out is a reset .. again ..

Sep 16, 2015 6:40 PM in response to Go Pack Go!by rich_i_p,OK, I got a bit further, bit still not there.
Did another iTunes-restore-from-recovery-mode, but this time selected the "use iTunes instead" option on the select a WiFi network screen. That got me to a "new" iPad running iOS 9. Then chose "Erase all content and settings" from the General>Reset menu on the iPad, and once that went through a reboot or two, restored from an iCloud backup made earlier. However, having gone through a load of the usual setup screens you get after a restore, I'm now stuck on a black-apple-logo-on-white-background screen, and have been for about 40 minutes. If it gets to an hour I'm going to try restarting it, and if that doesn't work I have an appointment at a Genius bar on Saturday...

Sep 16, 2015 6:56 PM in response to rich_i_pby rich_i_p,And we're back to where we started. Had to reboot (held power and home buttons) and then got to another "slide to upgrade" screen, which worked, entered passcode, got a flash of a screen saying "Continue" and something else, but then it switched back to the black-on-white apple logo for a couple of seconds and then back to the unresponsive "slide to upgrade" screen again. So I guess this means there's something that iOS 9 just doesn't like in the data this iPad had on it originally and that's also in the iCloud backup. Obviously I can restore as a new iPad and re-download the apps I had on there, but I really need the data that was on this iPad too.

Sep 16, 2015 7:11 PM in response to cIRRUS690by sc0ttkclark,Same issues here on both my iPad Air 1 and iPad 3, tried restoring iOS 9, even tried restoring iOS 9.1, both in recovery mode. No use... daughters will kill me!

Sep 16, 2015 7:33 PM in response to sc0ttkclarkby rich_i_p,Well that saves me the effort of trying iOS9.1, thanks! Reading another thread, people seem to get better behavior if they can reset network settings, and it seems to take longer to crash to the frozen slide-to-upgrade screen if I turn off my wifi router, but still can't get beyond the "select a wifi network" screen even if I don't actually select a network...

Sep 16, 2015 8:21 PM in response to rich_i_pby rich_i_p,My last hope was trying restoring from an older backup but no go. Hopefully Apple can come up with a fix for this some time soon, or maybe the Genius bar guys can think of something. In the meantime I'm going to have to work out how to explain to my son that his Minecraft maps aren't there any more...

Sep 16, 2015 10:51 PM in response to cIRRUS690by slasc,My wife's iPad Mini (1st gen) is having this problem, too. I had originally done an OTA update. However, it crashed with the above problem. After several different attempts, I finally put it in recovery mode, allowed iTunes to re-apply the update, and restored it from a backup. Same thing happened. At this point, I'm going to try again, but I don't know what to do if this won't apply properly. She's already ****** she lost all the data which wasn't backed up on her iPad. Now, she's going to be more ****** that Apple's update has actually bricked her device...
Is there any word from Apple on this issue? At all?

Sep 17, 2015 6:46 AM in response to slascby slasc,Quick update to my problem with my wife's iPad:
It's not a brick. I was able to do a "Restore" from iTunes in Recovery Mode. However, I could not restore her backup onto it. When I tried to restore the backup, the problem resurfaced. So, I had to set it up as a brand new iPad. At least it works now.

Sep 17, 2015 8:54 AM in response to cIRRUS690by dcc5k,So I tried updating my ipad last night ota. Everything seemed to be ok and then when i got to set up iCloud and I tried to bypass it, it started displaying the apple logo and a status bar that was 1/3 loaded. I tried a hard reset numerous times and have tried a restore from iTunes numerous times but same thing. ITunes tells me to initiate on my ipad to finish install but that's impossible because nothing showing on my ipad except the stupid logo. Is the genius bar going to charge me to fix Apple's problem?
