All Inboxes show unread messages

After upgrading to iOS 9, my all inboxes show that I have 8 unread emails. In my individual accounts, everything has been read and shows no new messages in the inboxes. Is this an issue that can be fixed? I have done the mark all as read and nothing happens. It shows there a no new messages to mark as read. I've deleted messages, accounts, and apps and nothing works.User uploaded file Is this a glitch in the new OS?

Same problem, with 326 unread phantom emails. Tried resetting the Badge App icon in the Settings>Notifications>Mail for all my mail accounts to off and then on, to no avail. It still shows 326 emails in All Inboxes and 326 in the red badge on the Mail app if iCloud's Badge App is turned on. If the iCloud Badge App is off, the Mail apps red badge doesn't show anything unread but All Inboxes shows 326. I trashed all the emails in my iCloud account but no change.

I am beginning to think that the cause of this could be unread emails prior to upgrading to iOS 9.0. I cannot remember exactly but I think I did have some unread emails in a few of my inboxes. My guess is there is a glitch in the code to update the All Inboxes once other mail accounts emails have been read. Probably this won't get fixed for awhile unfortunately.

SImilar, but more annoying problem. I show 1 unread "VIP" in my mail notifications -- no badge, no indications anywhere else. All have been read -- it first popped in on Wednesday, and all VIP messages prior to that had been read.

I'd like a separate 'unread' category for each email account, frankly, Prior to the upgrade to iOS 9, it was possible to search a particular mailbox on the term 'unread' and get a list -- something I didn't discover until about a week before the upgrade killed it.

!!

Anyway. I can't dump my VIP 'account', because it's linked to contacts, rather than a particular account, and restoring it would take me the better part of a day -- and would total up to that incrementally if I just add people as I hear from them. I take exception to software wasting my time -- and attentioon.

Apple really needs to get a handle on this.

I finally dealt with this and now my unread email count is correct. I'm not sure which of the things i did was most effective but here they are:

1. deleted my pop account and reinstalled it -- this seemed to make it worse by increasing my unreads to 2500 from 326

2. went to my server and marked all my unread emails as read ( about 2500)

3. on my iPhone patiently and methodically marked all emails as read and deleted all the emails in my pop account -- using delete all

4. had set up an "all trash" folder earlier and kept emptying this as needed using delete all

5. repeated 3 and 4 as emails kept being downloaded to my phone but noticed that the number of unread emails kept decreasing

6. continued 3 and 4 until no emails were downloaded and all emails that I wanted on my phone were marked as read

7. tested with emails sent to myself using my computer

This was done several days ago -- after the update to 9.0.1 -- and all has been well since
