Why is my 2.5GHz Macbook Pro slower than my 2.3GHz one?

My work issues me a mid 2012 15" Macbook Pro non retina, 2.3GHz, 512MB Nvidia, 8GB RAM, and an SSD. I just bought a used late 2011 2.5GHz 17" Macbook Pro with 1GB AMD, 16GB RAM and an SSD, but was surprised to find it exports 2x slower (FCPX) than the 2012 model. In my test project, the 2012 spit out a file in 1:15, the 2011 in 2:25. It also heats up quickly, the fan coming on full blast when opening Chrome etc. Is there something wrong with this used Macbook I just bought, or were the identical benchmarks I found online inaccurate? I don't understand the dramatic speed variance here. The Mac has a fresh OSX install and is running FCPX Trial.

Here you go. I should mention the new installation programs are a match to the existing 2012 Macbook, except for FCPX being trial version on the 2011. I also have Time Machine OFF on the 2012, but ON on the 2011, wonder if that was running itself during the renders?

Problem description:

Slow FCPX export speeds.

I ran a Geekbench 3 comparison of my fast 15 and slow 17 computers. The results were consistant with what was show online, that the 15 is only slightly faster than the 17. I am still a bit at a loss for the FCPX share speed discrepancies. Is there a chance that FCPX Trial vs is throttled at half speed, half cores, or some other way slowed down?

15" Macbook Pro scores 2794/10713

17" Macbook Pro scores 2771/9553

Well, I went ahead and upgraded to the PAID FCPX, and the huge export discrepancy is now gone. Exporting the identical 15 minute raw XDCAM EX timeline, the 15" did it in 5:45, the 17 in 6:45, which is only about 15% slower for the 17". That is about in line with what I expected, and thank goodness nowhere near the basically 50% reduction in speed. As an added benefit, the 17" Expresscard port ingested the footage from SxS card in 2:30, vs the 15" at 6:00 flat using USB3.0 (into USB3 on the Macbook) and the latest Sony USB3 SxS reader, which costs $350!
