Q: Can't see external hard drives plugged into USB ports

I used to be able to see my external hard drives but I unmounted them and now I can't see them to remount them. They are plugged into my USB ports. Does anyone have an idea on how I can fix this?

You can remount them with Disk Utility or by just unplugging them and then plugging them back in.

I tried that it didn't work. They don't show up in the disk utility and I don't know what interface to look at for the USB ports to see if they show connectivity. Any other ideas?

Have you tried disconnecting the drives and then rebooting and reconnecting?
Then if they do not show n Finder or Disk Utility use System Profilier
OS X: About System Information and System Profiler - Apple Support
to see what info is listed about them under USB

Yes I've tried that in probably every different config I can think of but I will check with Apple support on the OS X about system information and system profiler – Apple support
