I just received a text message from my own number saying "Erinn, The image was received" with a link starting with georcelin.com. I haven't sent myself a text obviously, and I have not heard of georcelin.com before or sent any images other than ones sent through Snapchat. Has anyone else gotten this message and what do I do if I receive it? I haven't clicked on the link but I have a feeling it'll probably pop up a few times now. I'm with Optus if that helps anything.

Do not click on anything that links to. Delete the message. Double click the home button and then swipe the content above each icon up and off the top of the screen. After doing that for each icon, click the home button to exit and return to the home screen. Then reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, takes about 10-40 seconds, then release both buttons and let it go through the startup sequence.

Hi today is Mar.4 2016, I got the same type of message, but here is the weird thing that freaked me out...... they knew my REAL first name. How ?

I don't just give my information out to anybody just like that. it came from 650-413-9205 . It asked me to click a link I did not click the link I deleted it.

I called the number it was some sort of cruise scam. ???? But the whole knowing my name was freaky.

I spoke to my Phone service provider(Optus Australia) about the exact same messages here.

They said to factory reset my device just as a precaution.

A friend of mine followed the link on a secure computer. It leads to a dodgy website with a dodgy copy of Deadpool with a bunch of fake reviews for the movie.

Do Not Click On The Link Yourself

Probably a Russian/Chinese/SomeOtherAsianCountry Phishing scam.

The messages was generated from my own phone according to the Optus guy. It was send twice from my phone but I only got it once.

There was no outgoing message either so I'm not sure how it was generated from my own phone.

I'm guessing it was a phone spoofing program on a dodgy server somewhere.

How they got our names and mobile numbers is a mystery.

I have an Android device, I thought it may be helpful for users here to know a little more about the link.
I found it good to know that it wasn't just affecting Android devices. As the Optus guy said it could only affect Android devices. This obviously isn't the case. And it's unlikely that it is malware on the device itself
