Q: you do not have permission to access the requested resource

I have just updated to iOS 9 and hope that I can get the home sharing back on my iPhone 6, which worked before the iOS8 last update.

I have managed to see the home sharing on my iPhone (from one of my mac), and has signed in for the home sharing, the albums are showing on the iTunes with my iPhone but I can't play them with this error message "you do not have permission to access the requested resource".

I tried my iPad mini and getting the same problem, however, it works perfectly among my two Macs

my iTunes library's size is huge around two TB (an external thunderbolt hard drive), not sure it is the reason that I got the problem.

TO prove it I created a new and smaller iTunes library on my Mac and it is working perfectly, meaning nothing wrong with the set up.

SO is it size or external hard drive causing the issue ?

I was so thrilled to get back Home Sharing that I was upset that this happens every time.

My iTunes library is also huge (only 1 TB, though). Still, I waited about 10 minutes to see the connection to the Home sharing library complete (circle progress complete)  only to find that nothing works!

This is incredibly frustrating. I've been patiently waiting for this for months, and now, it still doesn't work!

It's not a matter of library size.  I get the same error from my iPhone 6 and my work iPhone 5S.  Home sharing works just fine to my AppleTV3.

I have the same problem as yours, now I have managed to solve it by reboot the router (which in case is the Apple Extreme connected to the router).

    Good luck

Unfortunately, rebooting the router didn't fix my problem.

Home sharing is hit-and-miss with me. One thing that has overcome the "denied access" is is to restart my iPhone. Can't guarantee this will work with your iDevice, but perhaps it is worth trying since it is probably easier than rebooting your router and disrupting Wi-Fi to your local network.

    My setup:

    iMac (24-inch, early 2008) / OS X El Capitan, v. 10.11.1 (plus latest iTunes)

    iPhone 4S / iOS 9.1

I would check to make sure you're signed into your iTunes account. It seems like I run into the same error after some iTunes updates. It signs me out for some unknown reason but once I sign back in I'm good to go.
