Nov 4, 2015 4:37 PM in response to Rudy386by HondaFit,Hopefully Apple will fix this in the next update.......but not holding my breath

Nov 4, 2015 5:36 PM in response to HondaFitby Rudy386,Apple support says they're working on it and the fix will be in a release. Big difference between a release and the next release. I'm a developer and I would not think this to be such a difficult fix. Could it be that the telephone service providers are rewarding Apple to not fix it right away so they can make money on all those data plan overage charges?

Nov 5, 2015 1:43 PM in response to Rudy386by Kmlmartel,Same problem here Data restrictions will not work on 5, 5s, or 6 running any IOS 9 or 9.01 or 9.1 or whatever. However my Iphone 6 still running IOS 8.4 data restrictions work just fine and they grey out and stay put. My kids have now figured out that they can go into cellular data and turn on data to apps I previously restricted i.e. Youtube....and yes I had a 3 gig data overage last month. So thanks Apple for that nice bill. They have been aware of this since September and still not fixed it. I am so over this crap with Apple....but hey the kids got news emojies with the last update like that's important.

Of course, you could tell them not to do that, and if they do it again they lose the device for a month. And the 2nd time for 3 months. Apple has no responsibility in loco parentis.

Nov 5, 2015 1:55 PM in response to Lawrence Finchby HondaFit,I Had the same issue and I ended up removing YouTube and restricting the ability to install apps and disabled Safari. ***** to have to cripple the phone but until this gets resolved that's the way it's going to be

Nov 5, 2015 6:33 PM in response to Turkoby jfaughnan,This thread is impossibly long -- I can't get to the end of it.
FWIW on 9.1 I can't enforce cellular data restrictions. I have no trouble changing settings for cellular data -- unfortunately I also have no trouble changing it when restrictions are on.
Bit of a bugger when I don't want kids to burn data.

Nov 6, 2015 6:27 AM in response to Turkoby jfaughnan,I'm told the cellular data restrictions bug [1] is fixed in 9.2 beta.
There's nothing to do about this in 9.1. We have to wait for 9.2.
[1] [Settings:General:Restrictions:Cellular Data Use:Don't Allow Changes] does not prevent changes to [Cellular:Use Cellular Data For]

Nov 6, 2015 5:06 PM in response to Lawrence Finchby tekkcarter,Seriously, Mr. Finch? Parental advice? I find you SO annoying and condescending. If you have no advice to offer that will HELP us, please stop talking. None of us needs your critisism - ever - but especially not about off-topics. Get another hobby.

Nov 6, 2015 6:04 PM in response to tekkcarterby Rudy386,The main reason for giving kids phones is safety. Taking the phone away from kids because Apple won't fix the bug is not a practical solution. In fact it's an insulting and rude suggestion.

Nov 6, 2015 6:12 PM in response to Rudy386by Lawrence Finch,I grew up without a cell phone, and my children all grew up without cell phones. And they were all safe, except for the one that was hit by a car and killed. Having a cell phone wouldn't have improved his safety, and, as I see kids walking down the street and across streets focused on their smart phones, I suspect having a smart phone will make them less safe. But even if there is a perception of safety in kids carrying cell phones, a cheap flip phone will meet the same safety requirement. And having to be seen with one will probably be embarrassing enough to be a deterrent to losing the use of their smart phone. I've spoken to several parents who have used this idea; it wasn't original with me. Technology is not a parent.

Nov 6, 2015 7:13 PM in response to Lawrence Finchby Rudy386,Just because we grew up without phones doesn't mean our kids should. The cellphone phone is a great tool. My kid does not use it when in motion but it is new to her and has abused our the cellular data rule to watch movies that she owns via Disney, iTunes, etc.. My daughter had a cheap flip phone for many years. She is now 17 and three months ago I gave her an iphone. Apple should honor their advertised product capabilities and fix their bug. I should not have to consider the additional costs and hassle of returning the iphone, getting another flip phone and changing my plan, just because Apple won't get their act together. At least Apple could acknowledge the problem and announce these types of issues instead of making the public search and dig to find out that it's a bug. I may scold my daughter for breaking our rule but I will not punish her for it nor jeopardize her safety. Your suggestions are off the mark and your innuendos about my parenting are insulting. When it comes right down to it, Finch, you're a waste of time.

Nov 6, 2015 7:53 PM in response to Lawrence Finchby tekkcarter,- Keep your eye on the ball!! Do you have a solution for our data usage restrictions not remain locked? If not GET OFF THIS TOPIC and stop being such a troll! You are - as Rudy386 suggested - wasting the time of everyone reading and posting to this thread. You seem to be an angry person with too much time on your hands. Find another avenue for your self-righteous criticism.
