Q: Reverse the unplayed sort order in ios 9

Ok, just went to the new OS, and the podcast app has changed.  I can't figure out how to adjust the sort order to oldest to newist.

When viewing the podcast, tap the gear icon. There, you can change the sort and play orders.

That works for individual subscriptions but I have not found a way to change the sort order in the Unplayed playlist to be old to new. Since many podcasts are serial in nature, this makes continuous listening difficult.

I have the same question. The last time they upgraded the Podcast app they messed up the Unplayed "station". They eventually fixed it and now it was all wiped out again.

I like to create a station with all my Unplayed podcasts and sort it from oldest to newest.

Now I had to recreate my Unplayed "station" and it sorts from Newest to Oldest and I can't change it.

I also can't find a way to only see the titles and small picture rather than the expanded list view with all the details.

I don't see how to get to the Saved or On the Go or Up Next lists but when I play a podcast from my unplayed list after that ends it will default to the up next list but I can't seem to get to it to see what's on it or manage it.

This is horrible I hope they fix this fast. I don't see the need for a major change on this app from what it was. Why can't they add more options without taking away the functionality they had previously?

I too have this problem. It is most annoying as I save up podcasts and listen to them near the end of the week. I want to follow these in chronological order. I wouldn't watch a tv series backwards, and in the same way don't want to listen to my podcasts out of order.

    1. Go to the "My Podcasts" tab.
    2. Press "+" in the upper left corner, and create a new station.
    3. Name your station.
    4. Include all podcasts (or whichever ones you want).
    5. Select Station Settings (top of screen).
    6. Set Play (which means "play order", and is terribly titled) to "Oldest to Newest".
    7. Turn "Group by Podcast" off.
    8. Probably you'll want to select Episodes / All Episodes, and Unplayed only.

You'll have a station with all of your unplayed podcast episodes, sorted from oldest to newest.

This is very helpful, but it's worth noting it doesn't change your "Unplayed" podcasts page. It adds a station to the top of the "My Podcasts" page. Once you navigate into this station, it sorts exactly the way I want.

Thank you!! This is exactly what I needed. Struggled with "juggling" my list and manually adding episodes to the Up Next list, making sure they were in the correct order, etc. These settings should be the default, and we shouldn't have the need to create a new Station. THANK YOU!!

    Hi jrsnbarn0,

Using this technique, you can pretty much ignore the Unplayed tab. This new Station will have all episodes in the correct order and play them in that order.
